Building History

Boyer Wealth Management’s office is located in the heart of 25th Street Historic District. The London Ice Cream Parlor building may be the oldest and certainly one of the most architecturally significant buildings in the historic district. It has a Greek revival facade with its pedimented roof and window pilasters; however, Italianate influences are also evident in the Roman arched windows and bracketed cornice. Among the early business occupying the ground floor were Chicago Shoe Store, Bon Ton Restaurant, and T. Ashby Show Store.

Pre-dating building records, the building was probably built in 1882-83. According to Weber County Property Records, the property where the structure now stands was deeded to Emma Munns for the sum of $2,250 in September 1882.

The famous madam Dora Topham “Belle London” owned the building and the one right next to it to the west. The fifth window is actually connected to the building next to our office.

London’s front for her illicit business was the ice cream parlor. Look up when you visit Boyer Wealth Management and you’ll still see the sign for London’s Ice Cream Parlor.
